Azerbaijan, Russia hold bilateral consultations on Caspian Sea issues

Bilateral consultations between Azerbaijan and Russia on Caspian Sea issues took place on July 4, APA‘s Moscow Bureau reports.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan for the Border and the Caspian Sea issues Khalaf Khalafov, Ambassador-at-large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Igor Bratchikov attended the meeting.

During the consultations, the parties discussed issues on the agenda of the next meeting of the High-level Working Group on the Caspian Sea and exchanged views on open issues of the draft Agreement on the methodology for determining direct baselines to the Caspian Sea.

Also in the framework of the consultations, Deputy Foreign Minister K. Khalafov met with the Director of the 4th Department of CIS Countries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Denis Gonchar.

It was noted at the meeting that the Azerbaijani-Russian cooperation is of a strategic nature, the importance of mutual high-level visits in the development of bilateral relations was stressed. Satisfaction was also expressed with the existing level of relations between our countries, and detailed exchange of views was held on the prospects for expanding cooperation. During the meeting, the parties discussed other topics of mutual interest.
