“Love and Death” ballet by Polad Bulbuloglu, an Azerbaijani people’s artist and the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia, will be presented in Baku.
The ballet will be staged at Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre on March 23, Day.Az reported.
For the first time the ballet “Love and Death” was staged in Baku in 2005. The ballet master of the play was professor of the Vienna European Academy of Ballet Vakil Usmanov.
The art director is the national artist of Azerbaijan Rafis Ismayilov.
The old Turkic mythology, which the story is based on, is the fount of human moral values, rules and traditions. It presents the existential view of man and nature, man and the elements.
The ballet is not only nominally, but really can be perceived as a true saga, a musical paraphrase of Book of Dede Korkut .
“Love and Death” is about eternal love and powerlessness of death before the heroic deeds.
The premiere of the ballet in Baku was met with resounding success .
In 2005, the ballet troupe of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater brilliantly presented this ballet at the St. Petersburg Mariinsky State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater.
Russian media and representatives of the creative intelligentsia highly appreciated the musical and artistic level of the performance, considering the ballet to be a special event, both in the cultural life of Azerbaijan and in Russia.
In 2010, at the initiative of the Russian choreographer Nadezhda Maligina, the ballet “Love and Death” was staged at the Yekaterinburg State Opera and Ballet Theater. The premiere was a great success.
In 2011, the ballet troupe of the Yekaterinburg Opera and Ballet Theater presented “Love and Death” ballet on the stage of the State Academic Bolshoi Theater as well as in Turkey.
The musical extracts from this ballet were annually performed by the Symphony Orchestra of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater at the Immling Bavarian (Germany) Festival of Opera Art.
And each time the performance of this music caused a storm of applause.
The current ballet “Love and Death” is choreographed by Nadezhda Maligina, art director- famous Russian artist Dmitry Cherbadzhi.
The ballet will be conducted by Honored Artist of Azerbaijan, chief conductor of the Opera and Ballet Theater Eyyub Guliyev.
