Nar supports village school on World Book Day

Nar

Known for supporting the development of science, education and enlightenment, Nar has successfully completed another project dedicated to April 23 – the World Book Day. The mobile operator renovated the library of school located in Tazakend village of Jalilabad region, by presenting more than 500 books and modern computers with access to electronic library. The books presented to the school during the event, held with support of the Ministry of Education mainly cover classical and contemporary literature for schoolchildren. These books include fairytales, children’s encyclopedias, children’s literature, vocabularies, world and Azerbaijan literature samples, and other books. Note that the books are in Azerbaijani, Russian and English languages. Computers provided by Nar will be used by the schoolchildren during their computer classes, as well as to access the electronic library.

It’s already a tradition for Nar to provide schools with books on the occasion of the World Book Day. Last year, the mobile operator presented books to one of the boarding schools in Baku. The purpose of the campaign is to encourage children to read, to help them develop a habit of reading books, and to promote the importance of education. The decision on celebrating April 23 as the World Book Day was adopted by UNESCO in 1995. The main reason for celebrating this remarkable day on April 23 is that it coincides with the birthdays and the death days of such famous writers as Cervantes, Shakespeare, Vega, and Nabokov.

Science, education and enlightenment are among the main priorities of the CSR strategy of Nar. Therefore, for many years now Nar holds large-scale initiatives aimed at promotion of the enlightenment and sponsors various knowledge contests and intellectual games.
