A photo exhibition of the Russian photographer Alexander Novikov solemnly opened in Baku.
The event took place at the Russian Information and Cultural Center in Baku on January 22, Trend Life reported.
The photo exhibition is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade. The Siege of Leningrad lasted 900 days and resulted in the deaths of some one million of people.
The head of Rossotrudnichestvo office in Azerbaijan Valentin Denisov welcomed the guests of the event.
In his speech, Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Bocharnikov stressed the importance of such thematic meetings.
The Ambassador noted that the photographs and photographic documents presented at the exhibition the essence of the historical truth about that most difficult period of the Great Patriotic War. It is very important that the youth know and remember the truth about that war.
The dean of the history department of Baku State University Azad Rzayev cited a lot of facts about the Siege of Leningrad.
Notably, Alexander Novikov is a full member of the Russian Geographical Society, a member of the Russian Creative Union of Artists.
