Ambassador: Azerbaijan is important economic partner for Germany in South Caucasus

“Azerbaijan is an important economic partner for Germany in the South Caucasus,” said German Ambassador to Azerbaijan Wolfgang Manig as he met with Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The sides highlighted the history of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Germany, and hailed the development of ties between the two countries at all levels. They exchanged views on prospects for future cooperation.

Khalafov stressed the importance of continuing political dialogue between Azerbaijan and Germany, and praised the positive dynamics in economic sphere. Touching upon Azerbaijan’s relations with the European Union, he emphasized the country`s important role in Europe’s energy security.

The deputy FM highlighted the situation in the region after the 44-day war, Azerbaijan’s views on the post-conflict period and the steps taken by the country to establish peace in the region.

Ambassador Wolfgang Manig described Azerbaijan as an important economic partner for Germany in the South Caucasus. The ambassador stressed the importance of the high-level reciprocal visits, as well as the development of cooperation between the two countries in political, economic, security, cultural and other areas. Manig noted that the Embassy attaches special importance to the activities of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Goethe Center in Baku, which contributes to the humanitarian relations.
