Azerbaijan, Iran discuss joint energy projects

Azerbaijan`s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov has held a comprehensive meeting with Iran`s Energy Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian.

The sides noted that the heads of states attach special importance to the development of common historical and friendly relations between the two countries. The importance of the recent meeting of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Iran held in Ashgabat as part of the 6th Summit of the Heads of State of the Caspian littoral states for future cooperation was mentioned.

It was noted that, as in many areas, important tasks related to bilateral energy cooperation were set and this meeting will contribute to the development of joint energy projects.

At the meeting, the issues arising from the implementation of the project “Khudaferin” and “Giz Galasi” hydroelectric power stations and the next steps to be taken were discussed. The importance of accelerating the work related to hydrojunctions and hydropower plants was emphasized and it was noted that the completion of the construction process will be important for both countries.

During the discussions, the sides exchanged views on other issues on the energy cooperation agenda of the two countries.
