Baku, Dushanbe become sister cities

A memorandum on a sister city relationship between Baku and Dushanbe has been signed as part of an official visit of Speaker of the Majlisi Milli, Supreme Assembly of the National Parliament of the Republic of Tajikistan Rustam Emomali to Azerbaijan.

The document was inked by Head of the Baku City Executive Authority Eldar Azizov and Chairman of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali.

Eldar Azizov highlighted the history of Baku and the projects implemented in the city. The Baku mayor said that the visit would open new opportunities for expanding cooperation between the two capitals in all areas.

Noting that Azerbaijani and Tajik peoples have lived in an atmosphere of friendship for many centuries, Rustam Emomali said that his country attaches special importance to relations with Azerbaijan. Emomali underlined that the visit would play a special role in strengthening ties between Baku and Dushanbe. He also hailed the landscaping and construction work carried out in Baku.

The event was attended by Azerbaijan`s Ambassador to Tajikistan Alimirzamin Asgarov and Tajik Ambassador to Azerbaijan Rustam Soli.
