bp and its co-venturers’ new social investment project that promotes inclusive education has been completed. The project helps create an inclusive educational environment and achieve a behavioural change at high schools by increasing awareness while supporting social integration and adaptation of children with disabilities.

Four schools have been selected by the Ministry of Education to pilot the project to its aim. These are schools number 202 and 246 in Baku, and number 4 and 21 in Sumgayit.

Specifically designed resource rooms – one in each of the selected schools – have been set up to provide tailored group and individual services to support children with disabilities in their learning and integration efforts.

In addition, selected groups of the teaching staff – 50 tutors in total, have been trained to efficiently use the new equipment and technologies as well as to help uphold the overall inclusive environment and culture at their schools.

The project, which is being implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, strongly advocates a modern inclusive education policy and promotes strategic development of inclusive education as an integral part of Azerbaijan’s education system.

Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli, bp’s vice president for the Caspian region, communications and external affairs, and a group of bp representatives visited one of the project schools to see first-hand the ready resource room.
