BTC pipeline chronology

September 20, 1994 – The Contract of the Century was signed;
November 18, 1999 – Agreement on transportation of crude oil through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main export pipeline signed in Istanbul by the Presidents of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia;
August, 2002 – The BTC Co. founded in London to construct and further to exploit the pipeline;
September 18, 2002 – The foundation stone for construction of BTC was laid by participation of the Presidents of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia, and the US Energy Secretary in Baku;
May 25, 2005 – Azerbaijan section of the pipeline was inaugurated at the Sangachal terminal and filled with the first crude oil;
October, 2005 – Georgian section of the pipeline was inaugurated;
May 28, 2006 – Azeri oil reached Ceyhan terminal of Turkey;
June 16, 2006 – The Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan met in Astana to sign an agreement on the Kazakh oil to be delivered from Kazakhstan through the Caspian Sea to Azerbaijan, and through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main export pipeline to the world market;
July 4, 2006 – The first tanker was filled with the Caspian oil dispatches from the port of Ceyhan to Europe;
July 13, 2006 – BTC pipeline was official inaugurated in Ceyhan.
