Shahriyar Mammadyarov to take on Anish Giri in third round of Tata Steel Masters

Azerbaijani grandmaster Shahriyar Mammadyarov will face Dutch Anish Giri in the 3rd round of the 2019 Tata Steel Masters.

Another Azerbaijani GM Teymur Rajabov will face Hungarian Richard Rapport.

After the two rounds, Indian Viswanathan Anand and Russian Ian Nepomniachtchi top the standings with 1,5 points.

The 2019 Tata Steel Masters is a 14-player round-robin held in Wijk aan Zee, the Netherlands from 12-27 January. The time control is 100 minutes for 40 moves followed by 50 minutes for 20 moves, then 15 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30-second increment. If two or more players tie for first place a 2-game blitz (5+3) playoff and, if still tied, an Armageddon will be played.
