Ter khalva
Khalva refers to many types of dense, sweet confections, served across the Middle East, West Asia, Central Asia.

Ter khalva is a traditional sweet, prepared in Azerbaijan, made by sugar powder or doshab and with wheat flour. Cinnamon gives unique taste to this meal.

Serves: 3-4


  • 400 g/1 lb wheat flour
  • 200 g/8 oz melted butter
  • 250 g/10 oz doshab or sugar powder
  • Pinch of cinnamon.


  • Heat up butter in pan, add flour and brown. Then put doshab or hot sugar syrup and heat up stirring continuously. Place khalva on a small or desert plate and sprinkle with ground cinnamon. One can roll in thin flat cake. One can replacedoshab for honey. In this case khalva quality increases.
