EU representative informed about transport and digitalization projects implemented in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan`s Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev has met with Director for Eastern Partnership and Institution Building at the Directorate-General for EU Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations Lawrence Meredith. The meeting took place within the framework of the visit of the European Union representative to Azerbaijan.

Representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the EU Economic and Investment Plan and possible priority projects under the plan.

The issues discussed included the use of EU financial mechanisms, cooperation on Trans-European Transport Networks (TEN-T) and the digitalization of transport corridors.

The EU representative was informed about the transport and digitalization projects implemented in Azerbaijan, the importance of the Zangazur corridor and the work done in the country`s territories liberated from occupation.

The importance of holding the second meeting of the Azerbaijan–EU high-level transport dialogue in Baku in 2023 in terms of expanding cooperation on priority areas was noted.

The meeting also touched upon cooperation between Aztelecom LLC and the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development on the development of telecommunications infrastructure in the regions.
