‘During the pandemic, Azerbaijan, as a reliable transit partner, provided unimpeded transit through its territory’

Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan Rahman Hummatov took part in the 11th Ministerial Meeting on Transport of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member countries, which took place in the format of a video conference under the chairmanship of the Republic of Turkey.

During the videoconference, Deputy Minister Rahman Hummatov said that during the pandemic, Azerbaijan, as a reliable transit and logistics partner, provided unimpeded transit through its territory.

The Deputy Minister stressed the importance of the Zangazur Corridor, which allows to diversify transport communications in Europe through Turkey, as well as connect all transport corridors through Azerbaijan – both East-West and North-South.

Rahman Hummatov also informed on the construction work being carried out in the territories liberated from occupation, the construction and commissioning of one international airport and the successful continuation of the construction of two international airports, roads and railways.

The meeting discussed areas of cooperation in the field of regional connectivity and recommendations for further development and improvement of transport and connectivity in the region, as well as proposed solutions, including full implementation of the ECO Transit Transport Framework Agreement (TTFA). The Ministerial Meeting after due deliberations adopted the Ankara Declaration as its outcome document.
