The transportation in test mode of the natural gas extracted from Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz-2 gas and condensate field to Europe via the Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline (TANAP) has been launched, APA-Economics reports citing the Turkish press.
The gas will pass through the Adriatic Sea via the Trans-Adriatic Gas Pipeline (TAP) connecting to TANAP on Turkey-Greece border and will be delivered to Italy.
The sources said the gas has been pumped in TAP for test and even in the quantity sufficient for remaining of the gas in the pipeline for the upcoming trial, at the same time, the TAP will function at full capacity in I quarter of 2021.
Note that the annual transportation to Europe of 10 bln. cubic meters of gas produced in the framework of Shah Deniz-2 project via TAP pipeline being a part of the Southern Gas Corridor project has been envisaged for the initial period. This pipeline will pass through Greece, Albania and Adriatic Sea and will extend to the south of Italy.
